Arrival:
Please try to arrive at the BNC by 7:00am. When you arrive, you will be greeted by a Visitor Host. The Visitor Host will welcome you to the group and collect two business cards from you. Please bring about 60 business cards to the meeting. The Visitor Host will then introduce you to a member of our chapter. This introduction will start the networking part of the meeting for you. We network for 15 minutes before the meeting starts.
Each visitor will be given a pack of business cards, one from each member of the group. Please keep them handy for future reference and referral.
The meeting:
A BNI meeting is an organized meeting. We follow an agenda laid out by BNI International. This agenda has a proven track record to efficiently allow everyone in the group to benefit to the BNI meeting's maximum potential.
The meeting will start promptly at 7:15am. The President of our group will introduce himself and the Leadership Team. We will then start our 60 second member presentations followed by our visitors presentations.
60 second presentations:
The 60 second presentation is when all of the members of the group give a short commercial for their company. We will go around the room twice during this time. The first time we go around, the members do their presentation. If you are substituting for a member, you do their presentation during this first time around.
The second time we go around is when the visitors get to give their presentation. The 60 second commercial usually consists of the following:
- Your name.
- Your company name.
- What you do.
- What sets you apart from your competition.
- Who is a great referral for you this week.
- Tag Line.
NOTE: Sometimes, due to the number of visitors, we have to shorten the 60 second presentation to a 50 or even 40 second presentation.
10 Minute Presentation:
Every week one member gives a 10 minute presentation on his or her company. This provides time to tell the group things about your company that cannot fit into the 60 second presentations. It also allows the group to ask questions about the presenters company and services.
Referrals and testimonials:
After the 10 minute presenter, we move along to the most important part of the meeting. This is when we give testimonials and referrals. As a visitor, we do not expect you to have a testimonial or referral. If you do, then great. If you do not, just tell us briefly what you thought of the meeting.
After the meeting:
When the meeting is over, many of the members and visitors stay for a few minutes to network and set up one on ones. This is where the real business is done. Hang around and meet as many people as you can.
One on Ones:
Members and visitors are encouraged to meet for lunch or coffee for one on ones. This way you have the opportunity to learn more about other members services, and provide more insight into your own. This is not intended to be a sales meeting, but rather a chance to learn more about each other so that you may more effectively refer one another.
The Business Card Box :
The business card box is passed around the room twice. The first time it goes around, please put a stack of your business cards at the front of the box and stand them on end.
The second time the box goes around is we take out cards, both from vistors and from members whose cards we need more of. You will be given a small package containing all of the member’s business cards by the Visitor Host before the meeting begins, so you should only need to get the cards of other visitors.
Things to Remember:
Bring about 60 business cards to the meeting.
Visitors do their 60 second presentation the second time around.
If the horn is blown, please say your name and sit down.
Have fun and meet lots of people!
